Meccano Manuals
1928-1935
Details and Downloads of Meccano Manuals
Confirmation of those print codes in red is required (Scans of these manuals would also be appreciated).
Also details of any editions not included - especially overseas editions, would be appreciated.
For the Super Model Leaflets(SMLs) of this era see here.
Note - The numbers in green are the reference numbers from the list of USA Meccano manuals produced by Kendrick Bisset. See Kendick Bisset's website on Meccano in the United States.
Information on copyright dates etc. is available for many of the American manuals on the USA © Info page.
For manuals of American Meccano from 1930 onwards see here.
NEW - Manual Downloads - NEW
Manual scans from my reference collection covering most of the manuals are now available for download in pdf format. Where available, these are shown in blue in the tables below. Note that some of the files are rather large.
HELP - If anyone is able to supply scans of any manual for which there is no download or where there are torn or missing pages then that would be appreciated. Please contact me first for details. I would like to make this website as complete as possible
WARNING
Some of these manuals feature content that contains outdated attitudes and ideas of a racist nature. Such ideas were wrong at the time and are wrong now. However not to include them would be to deny that they ever existed. This would also be wrong. For this reason all manual content has been included.

Note *1 - This print code seen without the initial '2'.
Note *2 - Two versions of of this manual have been seen - One (small font print code) with pages 1, 2, 40, 41, IRC & Rear Cover like the 2/30 manual and another (larger font print code) with these pages of a slightly later version.
Note *3 - This manual has been seen in two versions. One with 140 pages (inc covers) and the other with 132 pages (inc covers) which omits all the non essential pages such as Hornby train advert pages etc.
Note *4 - These manuals have also been seen with plain red stickers stuck over the manual price and edition name, so that they can be used elsewhere. It is thought that they were used in 1935 along with the 1935 4-7 manual for inclusion in outfits.
Note *5 - This manual also seen with an overprint dated March on page 138 (Meccano & Hornby Price List), saying to refer to revised price list.

Note *1 - Also seen with a red sticker over the price and the edition name blacked out for use in other countries.
Note *2 - Note the misprint in this print code. It is assumed that it should be 2/731/.750 (M).
Note *3 - The 1933 5-7 manuals had an unusual print code not seen anywhere else. What the 'W.P.' means is currently not known.
Note *4 - It is thought that unused 1930 00-3 Australian and Canadian manuals (with the price and country covered over) were used in 1935 along with the 1935 4-7 manual for inclusion in outfits. A late era outfit 5 has been seen that colaborates this.
Note 5 - From 1931-34 the largest manual was a 5-7 Manual. In 1935 this was changed back to a 4-7 Manual.

Note 1 - Hardback bound combined manuals were supplied with the No.7 outfit (and possibly also the No.6). They were also available for separate sale.
Note 2 - The manuals were trimmed when they were bound. This sometimes resulted in the print code being removed. Where this has happened in the manuals examined, this is noted by the word 'trimmed' in the table above.
Note 3 - Was 1929 the only year that separate Overseas/Canadian editions were printed? - More info on this would be appreciated
