Gloria Construction Sets

Gloria was a simple Meccano-like construction system which utilised the standard parts (strips, angles, screws etc.) from the Köster railway construction system after Gustav Köster went bankrupt. It was produced in Germany from the late 1940s to 1951 by Press-, Stanz- und Ziehwerk of Brachelsen-Aachene. Only a No.1 set is known.

It is not certain at present how Press-, Stanz- und Ziehwerk got hold of the parts for the Gloria sets as the parts for the Köster Railway System were made by yet another company (INA-Vertriebsgesellschaft Möws & Co GmbH Rheinmechanik). It could be that:-
1. During its bankruptcy, the Köster factory was taken over by another company (Press-, Stanz- und Ziehwerk) which sold the stock under the name of Gloria before the total liquidation.
2. Köster (or INA-Vertriebsgesellschaft Möws & Co GmbH Rheinmechanik) used a subcontractor to manufacture Meccano-type parts (screws, bands, etc.) When Köster went bankrupt, the subcontractor liquidated the stock he had left under the name of Gloria.
3. After the bankruptcy of the Köster, a union of workers was formed to liquidate the stocks under the name of Gloria.
One thing is certain, these are definitely Köster pieces in the Gloria boxes, and after the collapse of Köster.
