Konstruktor(3)(Constructor(5)) / Konstruktor(27)
and other similar systems
Konstruktor(3) and some other Ukrainian systems together with Konstruktor(27) from Belarus were virtually identical metric constructional systems. Both the parts (made from aluminium) and the manual models were very similar and in many cases identical. The Constructor(5) system is the same as Konstruktor(3). For some reason some Konstruktor(3) sets were given the English name of Constructor instead of the Russian Конструктор (Konstruktor) - maybe for export after the split up of the old USSR. The manuals always had Конструктор on them.
Konstruktor(3) was made in Kharkov (Ukraine) from at least 1956 to (probably) the present day. In 1956 it was made by the Kharkov Tractor Plant (Харьковский тракторный завод). By 1969 it was made by the 8th State Bearing Plant, Kharkov (8-й Государственный подшипниковый завод, Харьковский). By 1991 it was made by the Kharkov Instrument-Making Plant named after Shevchenko (Харьковский приборостроительный завод имени Шевченко). After that manufacture changed yet again and the later manuals which have been seen have no indication of manufacturer. Note the text on some of the recent sets 'Купуй українське' (Buy Ukrainian). This will refer to recent conflict and tension between the Ukraine and Russia.
Note that in the name of some of the sets below Октябренок (Oktyabrenok) was the name given to a Russian Communist youth organization with members between the ages of 8 and 10 and Пионер (Pioneer) was the name given to a Russian Communist youth organization with members between the ages of 10 and 15.
A virtually identical system was also made by the Oleksandriya Electromechanical Plant in the Ukraine (Александрийский электромеханический завод). Its date is currently unknown. For simplicity I am including this under Konstruktor(3).
In addition more sets from the same unknown manufacture dated 1975 and 1985 has been found. The only indication is that the printer was from Bila Tserkva in the Ukraine. For simplicity I am also including this under Konstruktor(3).
Konstruktor(27) was made in the Minsk factory "Caliber" in Belarus (Минский завод “Калибр”) from at least the late 1970s to the late 1980s. As this is from a different country I have given it a system name.

Below there are manuals/leaflets for Konstruktor(3) which can be downloaded by clicking on the appropriate image.

A Konstruktor(3) set manual. No indication of date or manufacturer, but probably in the last ten years of so. This manual has some an interesting anomaly. It shows some models built from flanged plates with two flanges, whereas the parts contents list and all the other models show flanged plates with four plates. Is this a transition set or merely an error in copying models from other manuals belonging to other systems as these models have been seen in other systems?

A manual for a Konstruktor(3) set manufactured in the Oleksandriya Electromechanical Plant in the Ukraine (Александрийский электромеханический завод). Its date is currently unknown.
