Linka (and ScaleCraft) Construction Sets

Linka was a system for making building by casting sections of walls in moulds. These wall sections would then be glued together to make buildings. Finally they would be painted. It was launched in 1979 by Thomas Salter Ltd, Scotland, UK. However after the initial launch, sales were not good and because of this and other problems in the company, Salter went into receivership in 1983. An enthusiast then took over the system and production transferred to Alnwick. However sales did not improve and eventually the factory closed in 1993. Shortly before closure a bookshop was opened in part of the factory premises to help with the overheads and the bookshop is now a large successful business in Alnwick.

However a group of enthusiasts has continued to keep the system alive and there is a very detailed website with lots of information and model plans at http://www.linkaonline.co.uk/. The original Linka model plans L1 to L16 below all came from this website

A company called ScaleCraft now supplies kits based on this system mainly to model railway and wargames enthusiasts, a link to the online shop for these kits is on the above Linka website.
